Step 2: Power On & Initialize
- Connect your device to a trusted computer or mobile device.
- Press both buttons to power on. You'll be greeted by the Lédger® logo.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to configure your PIN code (4-8 digits). This is your first line of physical defense. Never share your PIN.
Step 3: Secure Your Recovery Phrase — The Most Critical Step™
This is the cornerstone of your security. Your device will generate a 24-word recovery phrase (secret phrase®).
- Write each word in order on your provided recovery sheet.
- Use a pen — never digitally type or photograph this phrase.
- Store multiple copies in secure, offline locations (e.g., a safe, safety deposit box).
- This phrase is your master key. Lose it, and your assets are irrecoverable. Share it, and your assets are stolen.
